As someone who loved helping people feel great about themselves from a young age, I realized one of the fastest ways to achieve that and express my innate creativity was through a great hair style.
With that realization, hairdressing and image consulting was a natural progression for me. During my training and apprenticeship years I competed in numerous State and National Hairdressing competitions like the Queensland IHS National Championships and the Melbourne THA World Cup, winning numerous titles over a 4-year period.
After graduating from TAFE in Tasmania, I spent a few years working in top salons like Carolyn Kent, Upper Cut Hair Design and Moore’s Hair Design before broadening my horizons as a stylist in London. I completed further training in London at the Vidal Sassoon Academy and gained my certification as Specialist Stylist and an approved Colour Technician with Wella, L’Oreal and Schwarzkopf. While working and touring in the UK and Italy doing hair trade shows, I honed my skills in competition styling, training and creating looks which wowed in the fashion industry.
Through ongoing training, practical hands-on experience and competition styling I quickly learned techniques and styles that helped build confidence in others. For clients I do this by creating hairstyles they love and that give them a big dose of personal pride and an all-round feel-good experience. For apprentices and staff, I built confidence by training them to excel in retail selling, effective office and appointment management systems and encouraged their creativity, so they consistently grew professionally.
In recent years I’ve had the great pleasure of being part of women’s special days by creating unique and personal hair styles for brides and their supporting teams of bridesmaids, matrons of honour and flower girls. I’ve also supported young women as they enter that special rite of passage, their high school proms, with noticeable, striking hair styles. I’ve loved being a part of moments that help radiate confidence because they feel great about their hair.
Providing confidence-building styles to a broad spectrum of clients in dedicated at-home, COVID-safe environment in McKinnon, Victoria. Hours: Tue to Fri 10am to 4 pm, Sat 9am to 2 pm. Home salon provides well-ventilated workstations for maximum of 2 clients at a time, thereby providing focused individual attention.
Outside of my professional life I maintain balance through outdoor adventures, traveling, spending time with family and friends and raising guide-dog puppies so they can also make a difference in the lives of people who need their support.
